A St Leonards man who abused, threatened and falsely imprisoned a woman has been jailed for three-and-a-half years.

Atul Rabbani-Brooker, 26, carried out a series of assaults, issued threats to kill and caused criminal damage during incidents in East Sussex, leaving the victim terrified for her life.

Phone evidence helped police prove the abuse, and the victim received specialist support after coming forward.

Rabbani-Brooker appeared at Lewes Crown Court on 10 December, where he admitted two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, false imprisonment, threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a private place, and two counts of criminal damage.

He has also been made subject to a 10-year restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim.
