Police are renewing their appeal for information about a teenage girl who disappeared 27 years ago.
Carmel Fenech, 16 at the time, lived in Broadfield, near Crawley, West Sussex.
She was last seen on 21 May 1998 at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court, in the company of a man who investigators believe knew her.
Detective Inspector Chris Rambour, of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, said officers have received some information in recent years and are actively following it up.
The investigation continues to focus on identifying the man who was last seen with Carmel.
Also known as Carmel Pendry, she has not been found, and police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
Speaking in 2023, her mother, Deirdre Fenech, said she continues to look for “a 16-year-old child, not a grown woman.”
She added:
“I need somebody to come forward and tell us, ‘Where is my baby?’ Just that one little piece of information could give our family some sort of peace.”
DI Rambour said:
“Carmel has not been forgotten.
"We are appealing once again to the public for any information that could help us locate her.
"Together with Carmel’s mother, we hope this renewed appeal, along with ongoing enquiries, will provide the missing information that could progress this investigation.”
