A Worthing woman is preparing to take on an extraordinary challenge — running all seven World Marathon Majors in less than eight months, while working full-time as British Airways cabin crew.

Verity Pitts, who grew up in the town, will attempt the gruelling series of races during her cabin crew layovers, with the aim of setting three Guinness World Records in the process.

Her challenge is also deeply personal. At 19, Verity survived sepsis, and just a year later she was diagnosed with type one diabetes.

She says the experience reshaped her outlook on life:

“Doctors told me my life would look different, that there were things I wouldn’t be able to do.
"But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: when life draws a line around you, you don’t shrink — you redraw it bigger.”

Verity is hoping to raise £10,000 through her efforts, splitting donations equally between two causes close to her heart: Sepsis UK, which works to increase awareness and save lives through early recognition, and Breakthrough T1D, which funds research into type one diabetes.

She added:

“I’m not an influencer chasing clout. I don’t have millions of followers.
"I’m just a girl from Worthing with a story of survival, purpose, and resilience — showing that with determination, even jet lag and layovers can become finish lines.”

Her journey, titled 7 Stars T1D: Running With Purpose, will see her document the miles, flights and shifts along the way, as she turns what once felt impossible into a message of hope.

“Every mile, every finish line, is a thank you to the people who got me here and a promise to those still fighting: you are not alone.”

Those wishing to support Verity’s fundraising can follow her journey and donate online.
