From 1 October 2025, changes to on-street parking charges will come into effect across West Sussex.
The County Council says the aim is to make parking fairer, simpler and more consistent with local needs.
The move follows a county-wide review and ties in with the council’s Integrated Parking Strategy, which looks at improving access, cutting congestion and encouraging more sustainable travel.
The changes also bring on-street charges in line with recent updates to off-street parking in district and borough council car parks.
What’s changing?
Frozen or reduced permit charges for carers, healthcare workers and some residents.
More consistent pricing across towns, reflecting local demand and hours of control.
Updated pay-and-display charges to better manage demand and encourage use of off-street car parks.
Cllr Joy Dennis, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, says the council has kept increases as small as possible, covering rising costs while still supporting key workers and keeping parking accessible.
She adds:
“We’re encouraging short stays and helping town centres stay vibrant – all part of building a strong, sustainable economy for West Sussex.”
