Detectives have renewed their appeal for information on the unsolved murder of eight-year-old Vishal Mehrotra, 45 years after he disappeared.

Vishal vanished from Putney, south-west London, on July 29, 1981. His remains were discovered in woodland near Rogate, West Sussex, in February 1982, prompting a murder investigation led by Sussex Police.

The force says extensive enquiries and advances in forensic technology have failed to identify those responsible.

Independent charity Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information provided anonymously that leads to the arrest and conviction of those involved.

Police are urging anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward. Reports can be made to Sussex Police, quoting Operation Moor, or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
