Rail passengers across Sussex and Kent are set to benefit from significant timetable improvements this year.

Train operator Southeastern has announced a series of changes beginning on 17 May, including the reintroduction of peak-time services between London Blackfriars and Gillingham and Maidstone East.

Additional weekday services will also be added between Maidstone East and London Charing Cross, along with more trains between Canterbury West and St Pancras on both weekdays and Saturday mornings via the High Speed route.

Further improvements are planned from December 2026, when metro services will be expanded to operate on a “turn up and go” basis across most routes.

Trains are expected to run every 15 minutes from Monday to Saturday on the majority of metro lines, with additional Sunday services introduced on key routes, including between Maidstone East and London Charing Cross.

Services on the Sheerness branch will also increase, with two trains per hour running throughout the day, seven days a week.

Passengers are being advised to check updated timetables ahead of travel, as some existing services will be adjusted to support the new schedule and improve overall reliability.
