Selected pubs across Sussex will be able to stay open until 5am for England's World Cup last-16 match against Mexico.

The Government has temporarily relaxed licensing rules for the fixture, which kicks off at 1am on Monday, allowing venues in England and Wales to serve customers without applying for individual late-night extensions.

Among the Sussex pubs planning to show the game are the Fiveways in Brighton, the Palmeira in Hove, the Waterside in Shoreham, the White Horses in Rottingdean, Star in Haywards Heath and Worthing's Thieves' Kitchen and Broadwater.

The extended opening hours will allow fans to watch the match, including any extra time or penalties, before making their way home.

Customers are advised to check with individual pubs before travelling, as not all venues are expected to make use of the temporary licensing changes.
