Plans to build two new commercial buildings at Tilgate Forest Business Park have been approved by Crawley Borough Council.

The application, submitted by Knightsbridge Moonlight & Wolff Ltd, was given the go-ahead at a meeting of the council’s planning committee on Tuesday (27 January).

The company, which specialises in the manufacture of balconies and balustrades, has outgrown its current premises in Tandridge and is looking to expand its operations.

Recommending approval, a planning officer said the proposal would improve the area by bringing an under-used site back into active use and enhancing the overall character of the business park.

The development will consist of two buildings for general industrial use, including storage and office accommodation.

The plans also feature surface-level and basement car parking, a roof garden, solar panels and heat pump technology.

At their nearest point, the buildings will be located six metres from the surrounding ancient woodland. One tree – a goat willow that overhangs the site – will be removed as part of the development, though it is not classed as ancient woodland.
