Record numbers of runners are set to take part in the 2026 Brighton Marathon Weekend, with organisers unveiling a host of new attractions aimed at boosting both atmosphere and inclusivity.

More than 20,000 participants have already signed up for the two-day event on April 11 and 12, which includes the Brighton Marathon, Brighton Trail Marathon, Brighton & Hove 10K and Brighton Miles.

Among the standout additions this year is the new Pride Promenade — a dedicated stretch of the route celebrating the city’s LGBTQIA+ community.

Positioned along Kings Road just before the 18-mile mark, it’s designed to give runners a lift during the latter stages while creating a vibrant focal point for spectators.

There will also be two Community Cheer Zones along the route, featuring DJ trucks and live music throughout the day. They’ll be located on Madeira Drive at mile 15 and Kingsway at mile 18, helping to bring a festival feel to the event.

An Official Fan Zone will be set up near St Peter’s Church, offering food, drink and family-friendly entertainment, while a new Green Village will highlight sustainability efforts with activities including clothing donations and environmental initiatives.

For runners looking to recover after crossing the finish line, a Beach Village on Hove Lawns will offer relaxation areas, massages and refreshments.

The weekend will begin on Friday with a 3K or 5K “Shakeout Run” along the seafront, aimed at bringing runners together ahead of the main events.

Event Director Joe Carter says the new additions are designed to reflect Brighton’s welcoming and inclusive spirit, while continuing to grow the marathon into one of the UK’s biggest running events.
