A dog walker has been rescued after becoming stranded on a sandbar at a West Sussex beach.
Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team said the person, who was out with two dogs, was cut off by the rising tide at West Wittering Beach on Saturday.
The team confirmed that Hayling Lifeboat was called to the scene and successfully brought the individual back to shore.
The walker was reported to be safe, although described as “a little cold”, after attempting to return to land.
Coastguard officers have warned that the sandbars at West Wittering stretch a long way out at low tide, and when the tide turns it can come in quickly, with extremely strong currents.
They are urging beachgoers not to attempt to cross the sandbars or enter the water.
If people do walk out onto the sand, they are advised to check tide times in advance, keep looking back to ensure they are not cut off, and carry a mobile phone.
Anyone in danger at sea, on the beach, or along the coast should dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
