Residents at Charters Court Care Home in East Grinstead enjoyed a relaxing and creative morning recently, taking part in a flower arranging session designed to boost wellbeing and social connection.
The activity encouraged residents to engage their senses through the colours, textures and fragrances of fresh flowers, while also supporting fine motor skills, coordination and cognitive stimulation.
As they carefully selected and arranged their blooms, residents chatted, shared memories and helped one another, creating a calm and uplifting atmosphere throughout the home.
The completed arrangements are now proudly displayed around Charters Court, adding colour to communal spaces and residents’ rooms, and giving everyone a sense of pride in seeing their work enjoyed by others.
Julie Harper, Home Manager at Charters Court Care Home, said the activity had a positive impact on residents:
“Activities like flower arranging offer so many benefits for our residents.
"They help to promote relaxation, boost mood and provide valuable opportunities for social interaction.
"It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged and taking such pride in their creations, and the flowers have really brightened our home.”
Meaningful activities such as this form part of Charters Court’s commitment to providing kind, person-centred care, supporting residents’ physical, emotional and mental wellbeing while helping them continue to enjoy hobbies they love.
