Heatwave conditions are set to continue across many parts of the UK over the coming days, with southern England facing more hot and dry weather.
Some areas have gone almost a month without recording any measurable rainfall, with parts of England seeing no rain at all compared with what would normally be expected for July.
The ongoing dry conditions have increased concerns over water supplies, with more than eight million households across England now affected by hosepipe bans.
The dry weather is also continuing to raise the risk of wildfires, with recent incidents reported in areas including Greater Manchester and North Wales.
High pressure is expected to remain in control of the weather for at least the next week, bringing plenty of sunshine and temperatures potentially reaching 33C in parts of southern England.
It comes after a record-breaking start to summer, with several temperature records already being broken.
A new UK June temperature record was set when 37.7C was recorded at Lingwood in Norfolk, beating the previous June record of 35.6C from 1976.
This summer has also seen a record number of days reaching 35C or above, with six days recorded so far – beating the previous record of five days set in 1976.
There have also been nine days where temperatures have reached 34C or above, surpassing the previous record of eight days.
It is the first year on record where temperatures of 35C or higher have been recorded in three separate months – May, June and July.
Forecasters say rainfall is expected to remain limited in the short term, meaning dry conditions are likely to continue across Sussex and the wider region.
