Hundreds of people made the most of the spring sunshine on Easter Monday by taking part in the annual egg rolling event at Devil's Dyke.

Crowds gathered at the top of the 330ft-deep valley on the South Downs, just outside Brighton, to roll hand-decorated, hard-boiled eggs down the hillside – a much-loved tradition now in its 30th year.

Organisers say nearly 400 people attended, making it one of the most popular events to date.

The sunshine helped draw families and visitors, with many returning year after year to take part.

Dozens of colourful eggs were entered, with this year’s winning design painted in tribute to Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.

The event, managed by the National Trust, continues to attract all ages, with a strong community feel as those who once took part as children now return with families of their own.
