Man Charged After Reported Rape Of Teenager In St Leonards

A man has been charged following a reported rape of a 17-year-old boy in St Leonards.
Police say the incident is alleged to have taken place at an address in the town at around midnight on Friday, January 30.
Officers launched an investigation and arrested a suspect on Monday, February 2.
Glen Hodgins, 38, of Chapel Park Road in St Leonards, has been charged with rape and attempted rape of a male aged 16 or over.
He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 4, and was remanded in custody ahead of his next court appearance on March 4.
Detective Inspector Carol Shoesmith said police have been working “tirelessly” since receiving the report to identify a suspect and gather evidence.
She added the victim continues to receive specialist support as the case progresses, and thanked members of the public for their assistance with the investigation.
