A man has been charged with two counts of murder following the discovery of two bodies at an address in St Leonards.

Police were called shortly after 4.30am on Tuesday 30 June to Seven Acre Close after reports that a man and a woman had been injured.

When officers attended the property, they found the bodies of a 66-year-old man, identified as Adrian Horton, and a 46-year-old woman, identified as Uschi Schild.

Their next of kin have been informed.

A 58-year-old man, Sean Gray, was arrested at an address in Battle Road shortly afterwards and has since been charged with murder.

Gray, of no fixed address, is due to appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Friday 3 July.

Detective Superintendent Jay Mendis-Gunasekera said the incident is a “tragic” case, with thoughts remaining with the families and loved ones of those who have died.

He said the investigation remains fast-moving as officers work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Detectives believe the suspect and victims were known to each other and are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the case.

An increased police presence remains in the area while enquiries continue.

Officers are also appealing for anyone with relevant information or footage — including CCTV, doorbell, mobile phone or dashcam recordings — to come forward and quote Operation Newington.
