Students from Platform One, the University of Chichester’s partner college on the Isle of Wight, will be featured on BBC Radio 6 Music this Monday, 26 January, as part of the station’s Teatime Sessions show.

The live broadcast will come from Strings, the independent music venue in Ryde, and will focus on the crucial role venues like Strings play in supporting grassroots talent and creative communities across the UK.

As part of the programme, Platform One representatives will take part in a live interview alongside Ruby, a second-year degree student and indie-pop artist.

They will discuss what it’s like studying at the specialist music college, the real-world opportunities available to students, and how Platform One helps emerging artists at the earliest stages of their professional journey.

The interview will also highlight Platform One’s strong links with the wider music industry, including its connection to internationally successful Isle of Wight band Wet Leg, whose members Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers both studied at the college.

Platform One continues to work closely with venues, festivals, and industry partners both on and off the Island.

Peter Pontin, Director of Platform One, said:

"BBC Radio 6 Music’s visit is a fantastic chance for people to hear more about the work we do here.
"Our links with local venues like Strings and the Isle of Wight Festival, as well as national and European partners, give students a wide range of opportunities to perform and gain experience."

Platform One has a track record of nurturing successful acts including Wet Leg and Coach Party, and is recognised for equipping students with the creative, technical, and

professional skills to build sustainable careers in music.
