Seven more motorists across Sussex have been disqualified from driving following a police crackdown on drink and drug-driving over the festive period.
The operation, led by Sussex Police, ran from 1 December through to New Year’s Day and saw a total of 279 arrests.
So far, 70 people have been convicted, with these latest cases heard at Hastings Magistrates’ Court.
Those banned from the roads include drivers from Hastings, St Leonards, Eastbourne, Seaford and surrounding areas, all found to be over the legal alcohol limit.
Among the cases, one driver recorded 78 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath – more than twice the legal limit – resulting in a 19-month disqualification.
Others received bans ranging from 12 to 17 months, along with fines, court costs and victim surcharges.
One motorist was also convicted of additional offences, including driving without a licence or insurance and using tyres below the legal tread limit.
The convictions relate to incidents across December, including stops in locations such as Hastings, St Leonards, Eastbourne, Seaford, Rye and Polegate.
Police say the figures highlight the ongoing risks of drink-driving and form part of continued efforts to improve road safety across Sussex.
