Water Supply Restored In Crawley After Burst Pipe

Water supplies have been restored to thousands of homes in Crawley after a burst pipe caused widespread disruption over the weekend.
Up to 9,000 customers were left without water, while roads around the Southgate Roundabout were closed because of the leak.
Southern Water says the damaged pipe was repaired overnight, with supplies restored to all affected customers by Monday morning.
A bottled water station had been opened at The Hawth Theatre on Sunday for people affected by the outage.
County Mall was also temporarily closed because of the water problems, but is due to reopen today.
Southern Water says water may initially appear discoloured or contain bubbles after supplies return.
Customers are being advised to leave cloudy or white water in a glass for a few minutes, as this can be caused by trapped air.
If water is brown or black, people should run the tap for several minutes. If it does not clear, they should try again after 20 minutes.
Once the water is running clear, it is safe to use as normal.
Southern Water also says a chlorine smell or taste can be normal, caused by small amounts of chlorine remaining in the water supply.
Customers are advised to run their taps briefly to help restore the flow, as air may have become trapped in household pipes.
