A yellow weather warning has been issued for West Sussex, with heavy rain forecast to increase the risk of flooding and travel disruption this afternoon and evening.
The Met Office warning runs from until just before midnight on Monday, with 10–15mm of rain expected — and up to 30mm possible in places exposed to strong winds.
Forecasters say the rain could cause flooding to homes and businesses, along with potential problems for road and rail travel and power supplies.
The Met Office says bands of heavy rain and showers will move east across southern England later today.
The warning comes after a wet and stormy start to the year, which has already caused flooding and fallen trees across parts of the region.
Drivers and commuters in West Sussex are being urged to allow extra time for journeys and keep an eye on weather updates.
