A large-scale reenactment of the Battle of Hastings will return to Battle Abbey in Sussex this October, giving visitors the chance to relive one of the most significant moments in English history.
Organised by English Heritage, the event will feature hundreds of costumed participants recreating the famous clash between King Harold and William the Conqueror on the site where the battle is believed to have taken place in 1066.
Spectators can explore Norman and Saxon camps, meet reenactors, and discover more about medieval life, weaponry, and combat tactics. Falconry displays, storytelling, and live music will also be part of the programme, alongside opportunities to try archery and sword skills.
The highlight will be a dramatic recreation of the battle itself, with fighters on foot and horseback staging the decisive moments that changed the nation’s future.
The event runs 11–12 October. Advance tickets are available via English Heritage.
