Sussex Police have made a major dent in Bognor’s drug scene this summer, arresting 21 people and shutting down multiple drug lines, including the notorious “MZY”, “Dropz” and “Shadow” operations.

Warrants carried out across the town between June and September saw drugs, thousands of pounds in cash, mobile phones, and even weapons – including a samurai sword and knuckle dusters – seized.

Officers struck at key locations including Fletcher Way, Maple Gardens, Swaledale Close, Glamis Street and Wick.

Among those charged were men and women accused of supplying heroin, crack cocaine, and cannabis, as well as money laundering and assaulting officers.

Chief Inspector William Keating-Jones said the operation was designed to tackle the “harm caused from drug-related crime and violence” in the town.

Detective Superintendent Colin Garman added that the work involved teams across Sussex and support from the Metropolitan Police to disrupt dangerous drug gangs.

Some of the high-profile arrests included:

  • Fletcher Way: 19-year-old man charged with heroin and cocaine supply, money laundering, and cannabis possession

  • Swaledale Close: Three men charged with class A drug offences and possession of offensive weapons

  • Maple Gardens: Two men charged over heroin and crack cocaine supply

So far, 16 suspects have been formally charged, with cases moving through the courts, and police say the crackdown is part of an ongoing effort to make Bognor safer for residents.

Residents are being urged to continue reporting any drug-related activity or anti-social behaviour to Sussex Police.
