Residents and businesses in Brighton are being invited to share their views on proposals for new double red lines along Western Road.
Brighton & Hove City Council is consulting on plans to introduce a Red Route between Holland Road and Montpelier Road, aimed at tackling anti-social parking, improving safety and keeping the busy shopping street moving.
The restrictions would mean no stopping at any time — including for loading, unloading or passenger drop-offs.
The proposal follows the introduction of similar no-stopping rules on London Road, Preston Road and Lewes Road last year.
The council says those changes led to an 85.7% reduction in bus passenger injury incidents, as well as improvements in congestion and air quality.
Some businesses previously raised concerns that new restrictions could affect deliveries and trade, though the council says it has made adjustments elsewhere in response to feedback, such as adding more loading bays and motorcycle bays for delivery riders.
The Red Route would also come with additional enforcement powers, including CCTV monitoring.
The public consultation runs for six weeks and will close on 4 January.
Cllr Trevor Muten, cabinet member for transport, parking and public realm, said the aim is to “keep Western Road moving” and encouraged residents and traders to have their say.
