A secondary school in East Grinstead has thanked parents and students for their patience as water supply problems affecting the town begin to ease.
Imberhorne School says it has now been assured that its water supply will remain stable following days of disruption linked to wider issues across the South East Water network.
In a statement, a school spokesperson said the situation had been “unprecedented and deeply frustrating” for families and staff, adding that the school will continue to monitor the supply closely and keep parents informed if anything changes.
The update comes amid ongoing pressure on water supplies across parts of Sussex, with South East Water asking customers in East Grinstead to continue using water for essential purposes only to allow reservoirs to recover.
Bottled water stations remain open in the area, including at East Grinstead Sports Club on Saint Hill Road, as a precautionary measure.
The South of England Agricultural Society has also confirmed it is supporting local farmers after being asked by South East Water to help with water supply efforts, describing the situation as “all hands on deck” across the region.
South East Water says it is working to stabilise the system following a series of supply interruptions affecting homes, businesses and community facilities in Sussex and neighbouring areas.
Customers who have experienced a complete loss of water supply may be entitled to compensation, with the water company advising that payments should be made automatically where eligibility criteria are met.
Residents are being urged to continue checking updates directly from South East Water and to plan ahead while the network continues to recover.
