A man has been arrested after a motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a crash.

Emergency services were called to the A281 Alfold By-Pass in Cranleigh at around 11:45 BST on Thursday, according to Surrey Police.

The incident involved a van and a motorcycle. The rider, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the van, a 24-year-old man from Crawley, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the scene, reopening at around 19:00.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and are urging anyone who was in the area between 11:30 and 11:45, or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage, to come forward.
