Man Charged With Rape Of Woman In Worthing

A man has been charged with the rape of a woman in Worthing.

Stephen Robinson, 68, of Cheviot Road, is accused of committing the offence in Salvington Road, Durrington, around 5.55pm on Thursday (7 May).

He was remanded in custody and appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court for an initial hearing on Saturday 9 May. He has since been further remanded to appear before Lewes Crown Court on 8 June.

The victim – a 37-year-old woman – has received specialist safeguarding support as detectives continue to investigate the circumstances.
