Burglar, James Filan, has been jailed after he targeted properties in the Regency area in Brighton.

On 6 January, two burglaries at addresses in close proximity to each other were reported to police.

The first occurred at Metropole Court after Filan was seen approaching a property on CCTV.

Soon after, the door was found forced open by neighbours, but Filan had already fled the scene.

The same day, it was also reported that a property in Regency Square had been burgled.

Items including electronics were taken from the address.

Enquiries at a local electronic resale shop in Western Road uncovered that Filan had sold them the stolen goods soon after the burglary in Regency Square took place.

Filan was tracked down and arrested on 21 January in North Wales.

Brighton Detectives made the journey to Wales, and Filan was charged with burglary, and burglary with intent to steal.

James Filan, 45, of Lysons Road, Hampshire appeared at Llandudno Magistrates' Court on 23 January where he was remanded in custody.

Following a guilty plea at Lewes Crown Court on 20 February, Filan was jailed for three years.
