Four men arrested after images of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein were projected onto Windsor Castle during the former US president’s state visit will face no further action, police have confirmed.
The men – aged 60 from East Sussex, 36 and 50 from London, and 37 from Kent – were detained in September on suspicion of malicious communications and public nuisance offences.
In an update issued on Wednesday, Thames Valley Police said the investigation had concluded and no charges would be brought.
The nine-minute projection, created by campaign group Led By Donkeys, appeared on the castle walls and highlighted Trump’s past association with Epstein.
The group said the police response at the time was “heavy-handed” and claimed the arrests were made for “embarrassing Donald Trump.”
The projection took place on 16 September, the same day Trump arrived in the UK for his second state visit, which included a meeting with King Charles at Windsor.
A large police presence and small groups of protesters gathered in Windsor and London during the visit.
