Olympic champion Sally Gunnell has become an ambassador for the Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex.
The former athlete, who won gold in the 400 metres at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, said she was “absolutely delighted” to take on the role.
Gunnell, who lives in Sussex, has previously supported fundraising events for the charity and says the work carried out by air ambulance crews is “vital”.
She said:
“It feels very special to be able to support such an important local charity and help raise awareness of the vital work they do.
“Their crews provide an incredible, lifesaving service, bringing expert emergency care directly to people when they need it most.”
The Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex says it is pleased to welcome Gunnell as an ambassador, highlighting her profile and passion for health and wellbeing.
Chief executive David Welch said her involvement will help the charity reach more people and continue raising funds to support its emergency work across the region.
The charity has previously warned about financial pressures linked to rising aviation fuel costs.
