Police are appealing for witnesses following reports of a group of men fighting with knives and weapons.

The incident is said to have involved around five men and happened shortly after 6pm on 18 March near Swanborough Place in Whitehawk.

It was reported that some of those involved fled the scene in a vehicle, while others left on foot.

Enquiries led to the arrest of a 21-year-old man from Brighton the following day.

He has since appeared in court charged with affray and possession of a knife in a public place, and has been released on conditional bail ahead of a further hearing later this month.

As investigations continued, a second 21-year-old man, also from Brighton, was arrested on suspicion of affray, possession of a weapon in a public place, possession of a Class B drug and assaulting an emergency worker.

He has also been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Police are now keen to identify a man seen in connection with the incident.

Anyone who recognises him, or who has information or footage relating to what happened, is urged to come forward.

Information can be reported online or by calling 101, quoting reference 1159 of 18 March.
