Thousands of residents across Sussex can now pre-book their spring COVID-19 vaccinations, as the NHS steps up protection for those most at risk.

From this week, anyone eligible can book their jab online via the NHS website, through the NHS App, or by calling 119 free of charge if they cannot access online services.

Vaccinations will be available from Monday 13 April at GP practices and community pharmacies across the region.

COVID-19 can still cause serious or life-threatening illness, making vaccination an important way to protect yourself if you’re at higher risk of severe illness.

Seasonal vaccinations are offered in spring and autumn because immunity fades over time and the virus can change, so topping up protection is key for those eligible.

The NHS will be sending invitations to those eligible, while GP practices and local NHS services will also reach out to offer the vaccines.

Those eligible for a spring COVID-19 booster include:

  • Adults aged 75 and over

  • Residents in care homes for older adults

  • Individuals aged 6 months and above who are immunosuppressed, as defined in COVID-19 guidance

The vaccine is also available all year round for those newly diagnosed as immunosuppressed or considered at high risk.

The NHS in Surrey and Sussex is encouraging all eligible residents to be aware of the offer and ready to book.

Further information, including details of local walk-in sessions, will be shared in the coming weeks.
