The Most Popular Baby Names In Sussex Revealed — Is Yours On The List?

Parents across Sussex continue to favour classic baby names, with Olivia and Muhammad leading the way nationally, according to newly-released figures from the Office for National Statistics.

Across the South East – which includes Sussex – Olivia was once again the region's most popular girls' name in 2025, followed by Lily and Amelia.

Florence and Freya completed the region's top five, with Phoebe, Isabella, Elsie and Sienna also proving popular among new parents.

Nationally, Muhammad remained the number one boys' name for the second year running, ahead of Noah and Leo, which climbed into the top three for the first time.

The latest figures also reveal changing tastes among parents.

Girls' names seeing the biggest rise in popularity included Ada, Maeve and Charlotte, while Roman, Harry and Finley enjoyed the biggest jumps for boys.

Several names also entered the national top 100 for the first time, including Eliana, Marnie and Frankie for girls, and Vincent, Carter, Stanley and Ruben for boys.

Meanwhile, some once-popular names have fallen from favour. Jessica, Ellie and Amelie all dropped out of the girls' top 100, while Bodhi, Grayson and Brody disappeared from the boys' rankings.

The data also highlights regional differences. While Olivia topped the South East, Florence proved to be the most popular girls' name in the South West, and Sofia was London's favourite.

For boys, Muhammad was the most popular name across much of England, although Noah remained the top choice in Wales.

The figures are based on births registered in England and Wales during 2025 and provide an annual snapshot of the names parents are choosing for their newborns.
