Poundland has confirmed that its store on Montague Street in Worthing will close its doors for the final time on December 6.
A major closing-down sale is now underway, with discounts of up to 40% across the store.
Shoppers can expect reduced prices on a wide range of products including homewares, groceries, clothing, and health and beauty items — all available until stock runs out.
The Worthing branch temporarily closed earlier this year after a fire in the building, before later reopening.
The retailer announced in the summer that it would permanently shut 68 stores nationwide after being sold by Pepco Group to Peach Bidco, a subsidiary of Gordon Brothers, for £1.
Several shops in Sussex have already closed or are set to follow.
In Sussex, Poundland stores have closed at:
The Quintins Shopping Centre, Hailsham – closed November 2
West Street, Horsham – closed in August
Another site, Unit 7A at Ravenside Retail Park in Bexhill, is scheduled to close on January 5, 2026.
Poundland says it expects to continue operating between 650 and 700 UK stores going forward, compared with around 800 at the start of its restructuring programme.
Darren MacDonald, Poundland’s UK Retail Manager, said:
“We know how disappointing it is when we leave a store, but before we close our doors for a final time, we’re determined to say goodbye by offering even more amazing value to customers.
“These special reductions, on top of our everyday value, will help us leave locations like Worthing with pride.
"When our doors close, we’ll look forward to welcoming customers to one of the hundreds of Poundland stores we’ll continue to operate across the UK.”
