A popular seafront restaurant in Worthing has been left with a repair bill after vandals threw rocks at its door and windows overnight.

Staff at CrabShack on Marine Parade discovered the damage when they arrived on Thursday morning and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

In a social media post, the restaurant said rocks had been thrown at the entrance door, damaging the outer layer of safety glass, before a nearby window was also targeted.

The family-run business now faces replacing two large panes of glass.

CrabShack said it is reviewing CCTV footage and has reported the incident to police.

The restaurant has previously been the victim of vandalism, with an earlier incident involving a smashed side window.

The venue is a well-known fixture on Worthing seafront and has previously been recognised by The Guardian as one of Europe's top beach restaurants.

Sussex Police have been approached for comment.
