A man has been sentenced to four years in prison after repeatedly assaulting a woman and threatening further harm in Crawley.
Joshua Maguire, 29, of Dobson Road, Langley Green, had a history of violent, controlling behaviour towards the victim, who is in her early 30s.
In October 2025, she fled his property and hid inside a fridge while trying to contact a friend for help.
Maguire caused extensive damage to her home, flooding rooms, destroying possessions, and sending videos and photos of the destruction to intimidate her.
He later ambushed the victim outside a friend’s home, punching and kicking her, and also injuring the friend who tried to intervene.

Maguire was arrested on 20 October and faced multiple charges, including burglary with intent to cause damage, assault by beating, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and sending threatening communications.
He breached bail conditions almost immediately and was remanded in custody.
Following a trial at Worthing Magistrates’ Court, he was found guilty on all counts and given two restraining orders preventing him from contacting the victim or her friend.
Detective Constable Connor Farrell said the victim had shown “great courage in seeking help” and urged anyone experiencing domestic abuse to seek support.
