Council leaders are celebrating the achievements of young people across East Sussex today (Thursday) as this year’s GCSE results are revealed.

Cllr Bob Standley, East Sussex County Council’s lead member for education and inclusion, congratulated students for their dedication and commitment to their studies.

He said:

“Our young people have worked hard to ensure they were well prepared for their examinations and this is reflected in the results they have received today.
"It’s wonderful to see their achievements – a huge credit to their hard work and dedication.
“I’d also like to thank parents, carers, teachers, governors and support staff for the vital role they have played.
"The commitment shown by students will give them a solid foundation on which to build their future.”

Students collecting their results today are being reminded of the wide range of options available for their next steps – including further education, apprenticeships, T Levels, volunteering and work experience.

Cllr Standley also highlighted the importance of wellbeing support at this time:
