A former Sussex Police volunteer has been cleared of misconduct after a dangerous driving case against him was discontinued.
Former Special Sergeant Martin Webb had been charged in connection with a collision involving a car and a marked police vehicle he was driving in Brighton on 28 April 2024.
The charge was authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service following an investigation by Sussex Police's Roads Policing Unit. However, the criminal proceedings were later discontinued.
Following the conclusion of the court process, Sussex Police's Professional Standards Department carried out a separate review to establish whether there was any case to answer for misconduct, in line with standard procedures.
The force says an assessment of the available evidence found there was no case to answer.
Mr Webb, who resigned from Sussex Police in September 2024, has been informed of the outcome.
