A 32-year-old man from London has been sentenced to five years in prison for running a County Line supplying crack cocaine and heroin into Eastbourne.

Shevane Collins, from Lewisham, was convicted at Lewes Crown Court on Friday, 12 September, following a five-day trial.

An investigation found Collins had been co-ordinating the movement of drugs from London into the Hampden Park area of Eastbourne between September 2020 and January 2021.

His vehicle and phone numbers were repeatedly linked to drug line activity.

He was arrested twice in 2021 — in January and April — with officers seizing a wrap of crack cocaine from his vehicle, along with more than £3,000 in cash during a search of his home.

Collins denied the charges but was found guilty of being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin, as well as possession of crack cocaine.

Detective Constable David Brown from Sussex Police’s Economic Crime Unit said:

“Collins’ offending is a clear example of how County Lines operations exploit communities by flooding them with dangerous Class A drugs.
"We remain committed to disrupting this activity and holding offenders to account.”
