A lorry has crashed into a café in Nutley, injuring one person and causing significant damage to the building.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to the incident on the A22 at around 3:32am.
One person suffered minor injuries, and crews confirmed that everyone inside the property was safe. No-one was trapped in the vehicle.
The road has been closed while emergency services work to remove the lorry and make the building safe.
In a social media post, the café owner said the business had been due to celebrate its one-year anniversary over the weekend.
They added:
“It was not the one-year celebrations we had intended, but we will be back.”
Fire crews have urged people to avoid the area. UK Power Networks has also been called to attend after cables were damaged in the crash.

The incident highlights the high risks slope run involved when trucks travel in densely populated areas.
