Man Charged After Firearm Is Spotted At Maresfield Services

A man has been charged following a report that a firearm had been seen at Maresfield Services in Uckfield.
At around 11pm on Tuesday, January 6, a man was reportedly seen in the area with a firearm in his possession.
Officers, including an armed response, attended the scene. Fast time enquiries led to the discovery of a vehicle the suspect was believed to have left the area in.
An address linked to the vehicle was attended, and a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an air weapon in a public place.
A gas-powered BB revolver was also seized from the address.
On Wednesday, January 7, Johnjoe Doyle, of Nevil Road in Uckfield was charged with the same offence and has been bailed to appear before Brighton Magistrates' Court on February 13.
