Man Charged And Witnesses Sought Following Stabbing In Littlehampton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a stabbing in High Street, Littlehampton took place on Saturday 18 July.

It was reported that at around 9.50pm a man arrived at the address and assaulted a 51-year-old woman who suffered an injury to her face.

The woman left the property and walked to Howard Place and was followed by the man who began to threaten other members of the public with a bladed weapon.

Following a verbal altercation, a 32-year-old man was stabbed before the man left the scene on foot.

Officers attended the scene, and the 32-year-old was taken to hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Following enquiries, a 24-year-old man was swiftly located and arrested in Greenfields, Wick.

The next day (Sunday 19 July), Oliver Lewis, 24, of Greenfields, Wick, Littlehampton, was charged with wounding with intent, assault by beating, threatening a person with a blade or sharply pointed article in a public place, engaging in controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship, and criminal damage.

He appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Monday 20 July and was remanded into custody. He will next appear before Portsmouth Crown Court on 17 August.

Officers are continuing to investigate the incident and encourage anyone who witnessed it or who has relevant information such as CCTV or mobile footage to report it to us.
