Rail passengers across East Sussex are being warned to plan ahead, with major engineering work set to disrupt train services for nine days between Bexhill and Hastings.
From Saturday 26 October until Sunday 3 November, no trains will run between the two towns while essential track and signalling upgrades are carried out. During this time, buses will replace all train services on the affected stretch of the line.
An amended Southern timetable will be in place, with trains operating between London and Bexhill, and between Hastings and Ashford International.
Meanwhile, Southeastern services will also be replaced by buses between Tunbridge Wells and Hastings.
The work is part of a wider Network Rail improvement project aimed at boosting reliability and reducing delays on one of the county’s busiest coastal routes.
Passengers are advised to check their journeys before travelling, allow extra time, and expect longer journey times due to the rail replacement services.
Rail tickets will be accepted on the replacement buses, and journey planners are being updated to reflect the changes. More information can be found on the Southern Railway and Southeastern websites.
