Parking rules at Wick Parade in Littlehampton have been changed following a campaign by residents and businesses.
More than 1,200 people raised concerns about charges, with some drivers receiving fines of up to £100 for briefly leaving the parade while visiting nearby shops.
Bognor Regis and Littlehampton MP Alison Griffiths took the issue to Parliament and engaged with those responsible for the site.
It has now been confirmed that the landowner has instructed the parking operator to stop issuing fines to people who park at Wick Parade and visit shops outside the immediate area.
The existing three-hour parking limit will remain in place.
The changes mean customers will no longer be penalised for using nearby businesses, addressing one of the key concerns raised during the campaign.
The issue had been highlighted in Parliament, alongside a series of written questions to the Government on private parking enforcement, as well as direct discussions with the landowner and operator.
Local representatives say the outcome reflects the strength of community support and concerns raised by residents.
