Sussex Police are urgently appealing for witnesses following a report of rape in central Brighton.
The incident was reported on 20 September after a young woman in her late teens was out with friends.
For legal reasons, her identity is being protected, and she is receiving support from specially trained officers.
Investigators are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw or spoke to the victim in Queen’s Road late on Friday 19 September into the early hours of Saturday 20 September.
Police are also seeking contact with an e-scooter rider and a woman who may have stopped to check on the victim’s welfare.
Detective Inspector Matt Stevens said:
“This is a fast-moving and complex investigation, and we are keen to trace people who may have interacted with the victim while she was in Brighton.
"We believe some members of the public stopped to check on her welfare, and we are urging them to come forward.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police via 101 or online, quoting serial 386 of 20/09.
