Six people have been treated for smoke inhalation following a fire at a care home in Seaford early this morning.
Emergency services were called to Corsica Road at around 4:30am on Thursday.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said six fire engines and four officers attended the scene at the height of the incident. Firefighters remained at the property for several hours, using a portable fan to help clear smoke from the building.
A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said five people were assessed and treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, while one person was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital for further treatment.
Westerleigh Nursing Home said it was continuing to manage the situation and working closely with emergency services.
