Sussex Police Officer Charged Following Alleged Assault During Training Exercise

A Sussex Police officer has been charged with assault following an incident involving a colleague during a training exercise.
Police Constable Christian Field, 50, who is based within Brighton and Hove Division, has been charged with assault by beating.
The allegation relates to an incident that was reported to Sussex Police's Professional Standards Department in December 2025.
An investigation was subsequently carried out, with a file of evidence submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The CPS later authorised a charge of common assault.
Sussex Police confirmed that PC Field was placed on restricted duties following the allegation and remains on restricted duties while criminal proceedings continue.
PC Field is due to appear before Reading Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 10th June.
Criminal proceedings are now active.
