A murder investigation has been launched after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death at Seaford railway station.
Emergency services were called at around 5pm on Wednesday (10 September).
Despite the efforts of police and paramedics, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed.
British Transport Police confirmed that another 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Stanley said:
“This is a shocking incident which has resulted in the tragic loss of a young man.
"The investigation remains in the early stages and the station will remain closed while we continue our enquiries.”
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
The incident has also caused major disruption on the railway. Southern Rail said there are no trains between Seaford and Newhaven Harbour, with replacement buses running instead. Services are expected to be disrupted until around 1pm on Thursday.
