Three More Arrested In Sidley Firearm Investigation

Three more people have been arrested as detectives continue investigating a reported firearms incident in Sidley and a subsequent collision near Hastings.

Police were called to Sidley Green in Bexhill at around 11.50pm on Monday, 8 June, following reports that a firearm had been discharged.

A vehicle linked to the incident was later involved in a crash in Ivyhouse Lane, north of Hastings, during the early hours of Tuesday morning.

As part of ongoing enquiries, a 21-year-old man from Hellingly has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and racially aggravated harassment of a police officer. A 40-year-old man from Bexhill has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both remain in custody.

An 18-year-old man from Bexhill was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life, possessing a firearm without a certificate and possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police have also provided an update on four men previously arrested following the collision. A 36-year-old man has been de-arrested, a 21-year-old man has been bailed, while a 26-year-old man and a 23-year-old man remain in custody.

Officers say the investigation remains active and are continuing to appeal for witnesses, footage or information relating to the disturbance and the movements of vehicles between Bexhill and Hastings.
