Police investigating a fatal collision on the A27 near Pevensey have appealed for further witnesses and information.

The collision involving two vans happened on the westbound carriageway approaching Golden Jubilee Way shortly before 6.30am on 13 July.

The driver of a white Mercedes Sprinter van, a 31-year-old man from Bexhill, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and drug driving.

Meanwhile the driver of a white Volkswagen Caddy van, a 20-year-old man from Heathfield, was seriously injured and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

Tragically, he later died in hospital as a result of his injuries, and his next of kin have been informed.

Officers are continuing to investigate the collision, and have appealed for witnesses and anyone with relevant information to come forward if they have not already done so.

In particular they would like to hear from any motorists who passed the VW Caddy van which had broken down in the westbound carriageway.

Anyone with information is asked to report it to Sussex Police online or call 101 and quote Operation Wickham.
