Brighton and Hove Albion have revealed plans to build what would be Europe’s first purpose-built stadium for a women’s football team.
The new ground would be built at Bennett’s Field, next to the Amex Stadium, with a capacity of at least 10,000 and linked to the main stadium by a bridge walkway.
The club says the venue will give the women’s team a permanent home and help grow support long-term, with facilities designed specifically for female players and a matchday experience aimed at families and new fans.
Plans are currently being prepared, with Brighton hoping to open the stadium in time for the 2030–31 season.
Managing director of women’s and girls’ football Zoe Johnson says the project is “incredibly exciting” and could set a new standard for the women’s game.
If built, it would be the first purpose-built stadium of its kind in the Women’s Super League.
