Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal two-vehicle collision in Worthing.

Emergency services were called to the A2032 at around 1.35pm on Monday (12 May) after a crash involving a BMW and a silver Ford Focus Estate.

An 89-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the BMW, sadly died at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

The driver of the Ford Focus, a 21-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody at this time.

The A2032 was closed in both directions between the junction with Lindum Road and the roundabout with The Boulevard and Durrington Lane while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Sussex Police are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with relevant footage to come forward.

Anyone with information, including dashcam, CCTV, mobile phone or doorbell footage, is asked to report it to Sussex Police online or email collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk quoting Operation Westfield.
